In Tehran, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, condemned a US-Israeli initiative aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians in Gaza. He asserted that the sole effective means to counter Israel’s aggressive actions is through regional unity. This statement was made during a meeting with Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultanate of Oman’s Armed Forces, where military cooperation and regional security were discussed.
General Baqeri referred to Israel as an “occupying and terrorist regime,” highlighting that its expansionist tendencies threaten regional stability. He emphasized that unity among regional countries is essential to confront these threats. Baqeri also noted the historical and continuously developing friendship between Iran and Oman, suggesting that their already strong ties should be further enhanced in light of current geopolitical challenges.
Both military leaders prioritized improving maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman. Baqeri pointed out the significance of collaborative efforts to fight smuggling and protect regional waters. He proposed that Oman participate in the forthcoming Maritime Security Belt naval exercises aimed at strengthening security cooperation among the regional navies.

He asserted, “The countries of this region are its rightful owners,” while warning against foreign interference in regional matters.

Upon arriving in Tehran, Al Raisi visited an exhibition showcasing advancements in Iran’s Armed Forces and engaged with senior Iranian military officials.
