Warner Music Group has appointed Tomás Talarico as the new managing director of Warner Music Southern Cone, effective immediately. Talarico succeeds Guillermo Castellani, who will continue as a consultant during the transition. Talarico reports directly to Alejandro Duque, President of Warner Music Latin America, marking a significant change in the company’s leadership in Argentina and Chile.
Talarico is known for his extensive experience in the music industry, having founded MOJO, a prominent independent record label and digital distributor, in 2014. Under his guidance, MOJO made considerable strides in Argentina, Chile, and Peru, establishing itself as a vital entity in the tropical and urban music scenes, working with approximately 150 artists and achieving over 50 Gold and Platinum certifications.
Throughout his career, Talarico has been instrumental in nurturing emerging talents, including artists such as ECKO and Papichamp. He also contributed to the successful Spotify project Un Poco de Ruido last year. In addition to his role in music production, Talarico is a musician, having released five albums as a guitarist and singer-songwriter.
Before launching MOJO, Talarico was a pioneer in digital music distribution and worked with multiple companies specializing in MP3 and ringtone sales. His early experience included a supervising role at Tower Records, further solidifying his industry presence. Alejandro Duque commended Talarico’s entrepreneurial spirit and his ability to merge music with technology for the benefit of artists.
Expressing his enthusiasm for joining Warner Music Group, Talarico remarked on the potential to leverage the label’s resources to benefit regional talent. He acknowledged Castellani’s significant contributions to Warner Music and the strong team he had developed: “To tap into the resources of a major label to superserve the exceptional talent in this region is an incredible opportunity.”
Reflecting on his tenure since 2002, Castellani expressed appreciation for the support he received and wished Talarico success. He noted, “I wish Tomás success in writing the following chapter in the Southern Cone. I am sure that he will lead Warner Music in its continuous growth to remain a magnet for new music talent in this part of the world.”
The leadership transition at Warner Music Southern Cone marks a significant step for the company, with Tomás Talarico poised to build upon Guillermo Castellani’s legacy. Talarico’s extensive background in music, including founding MOJO, positions him well to enhance the support for emerging artists in the region. The collaborative spirit and commitment to growth will aim to strengthen Warner Music’s influence in the vibrant music markets of Argentina and Chile.
