TEHRAN, Feb 27 (Bernama) — Malaysia and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to humanitarian initiatives aimed at addressing the violence faced by Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, as stated by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. This commitment was underscored during his 30-minute meeting with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian. The discussions encompassed both multilateral relations and a united stance against terrorism in the affected regions, particularly concerning Israel’s proposals to displace Palestinian residents from Gaza.
Mohamad expressed vigilance over the forthcoming Arab Emergency Summit, scheduled for Tuesday, emphasizing that its outcomes will be pivotal for the subsequent discussions at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting on March 7. Meanwhile, Anadolu Agency reported that Egypt will facilitate the Emergency Arab Summit on March 4 to address the restoration of Gaza without the displacement of its Palestinian residents.
He highlighted that recent suggestions from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi aim at developing a comprehensive plan for the restoration of Gaza, ensuring that Palestinians are not displaced in the process. Mohamad noted that the developments in the Middle East are significant and underscored Malaysia’s concern for the affected populations.
In reference to the situation in Gaza, he mentioned ongoing discussions by Egypt and Saudi Arabia regarding post-ceasefire management. Mohamad expressed hope that a lasting ceasefire can enable focused efforts on the reconstruction of Gaza.
