Morocco and Central African Republic Explore Military Collaboration

Rabat witnessed a significant meeting between General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), and General Zéphirin Mamadou, Chief of Staff of the Central African Armed Forces. This engagement occurred at the FAR’s General Staff headquarters during General Mamadou’s official visit to Morocco from January 17 to 23, where he led a distinguished military delegation. They engaged in substantive discussions concerning military collaboration, including training initiatives and exchange visits.

Both generals emphasized the importance of the established partnership between the FAR and the Central African Armed Forces. General Mamadou expressed profound gratitude to King Mohammed VI for the unwavering support offered to the Central African military, acknowledging the vital contributions made by Moroccan troops in maintaining stability under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

Following the talks, General Mamadou met with Abdeltif Loudyi, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government responsible for National Defense Administration. In their discussions, they recognized the strengthening ties between Morocco and the Central African Republic and identified potential areas for enhanced cooperation on shared interests. Since 2014, Morocco has deployed 750 soldiers for peacekeeping missions in the Central African Republic, highlighting its commitment to international military partnerships aimed at increasing defense capabilities.
