Ukrainian Officials to Discuss Relations with U.S. in Saudi Arabia Meetings

Four Ukrainian officials, including Andrii Yermak, will meet American counterparts in Saudi Arabia to discuss mineral agreements and restore relations following tensions with Washington. The meeting is scheduled for March 12, with key focus on addressing the Russo-Ukrainian war.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that four key Ukrainian officials will meet with their American counterparts in Saudi Arabia. This group includes Andrii Yermak, the Head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, along with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Yuliia Svyrydenko, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, and Pavlo Palisa, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office.

The primary focus of these discussions will revolve around an agreement concerning minerals and strengthening relations with Washington after a previous meeting between Presidents Zelenskyy and Donald Trump, which ended contentiously. On March 10, Zelenskyy confirmed his meeting with Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, before the Ukrainian officials engage with the American delegation.

Following his meeting with the Crown Prince, Yermak, Sybiha, Defence Minister Rustem Umierov, and Palisa will remain in Saudi Arabia for discussions with the U.S. delegation. The upcoming dialogues are anticipated to address the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian conflict and pursue peace efforts.

A Ukrainian official indicated that Yermak is expected to lead the Ukrainian delegation, which could also include Minister Umierov. Reportedly, the U.S. delegation will feature Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, with media confirming the meeting is set for March 12.

In summary, four Ukrainian officials, led by Andrii Yermak, are scheduled to meet with American representatives in Saudi Arabia to discuss critical issues such as minerals and the Russo-Ukrainian war. This meeting aims to restore relations following prior tensions and seeks to establish a pathway towards peace. The presence of high-ranking U.S. officials indicates the importance of these discussions.
