In discussing the Kurdish parliament, Sheikh Jangi remarked that his representation was largely a result of Iranian involvement, stating that he was approached by Iranian security officials with a proposition to secure 14 seats in exchange for diminishing the influence of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). Furthermore, he highlighted his perspective on the relationship between Baghdad and Washington, relaying an “indirect American message” to the Coordination Framework which suggested that the United States views Iraq as merely a mechanism for financial support to Iran, while also indicating that Sulaymaniyah is perceived as part of the “Resistance Axis.”
