The inaugural Congo Energy and Investment Forum (CEIF), scheduled for March 24-26 in Brazzaville, will feature a workshop led by the legal firm CLG (formerly Centurion Law Group). This session aims to address the unique challenges within the Congolese energy investment sector and promote socioeconomic development through strategic resource monetization, project development, and local capacity building.
The workshop, titled “Mastering Business in Congo: Legal Challenges and Strategic Solutions for Success,” will take place on March 24. It aims to provide participants with an understanding of key legal frameworks related to corporate law, taxation, immigration, labor law, and regulatory compliance. Experts from CLG will present insights crucial for navigating the complexities of investment decisions in Africa’s energy sector.

CLG’s seasoned expertise in the African market is positioned to empower businesses with effective management techniques suited for the energy sector. Notably, the country will unveil its Gas Master Plan and new Gas Code during CEIF 2025, highlighting plans to reduce energy imports and enhance electricity access, currently at 50%.
Additionally, Congo is set to announce an international oil and gas licensing round at CEIF 2025. This initiative aims to attract investment for both marginal and deepwater blocks, aligning with national objectives to boost oil production from 274,000 barrels per day to 500,000 by 2027, thereby stimulating further explorations onshore and offshore.
The workshop will equip attendees with the knowledge to navigate the regulatory landscape and formulate actionable strategies to mitigate legal risks associated with energy sector investments. Daoudou Mohammad, Tax and Legal Director at CLG, emphasizes the importance of understanding the legal framework, stating, “This workshop is a pivotal opportunity for investors and stakeholders to gain valuable insights into the legal frameworks that underpin the energy market.”
