The New York State Thruway Authority has announced the opening of the Angola Service Area located on I-90, accessible in both eastbound and westbound directions. This development is the culmination of a $450 million investment aimed at modernizing all 27 service areas along the Thruway. The Angola Service Area is the 26th to be reopened, providing travelers with a range of dining options and amenities.

Patrons can now enjoy various dining establishments, including Shake Shack, Chick-fil-A, and Panda Express. Upcoming openings will introduce Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon. Additionally, three Starbucks locations are available, with one in the restaurant building and two drive-thru options in the parking lots. The site also features an Applegreen convenience store and Taste NY food and drink products.

Beyond dining, the Angola Service Area offers several amenities, such as outdoor seating, designated dog walking areas, a private nursing area, and a digital tourism kiosk. Future upgrades will include four Level 3 high-speed electric vehicle chargers. The Thruway Authority has confirmed that all service areas along I-90, stretching from Albany to the Pennsylvania state line, are now operational.

Hoare, Esq., Executive Director of the Thruway Authority, stated, “We’ve reached another milestone in the Service Area Redevelopment Project, as motorists can now enjoy a seamless trip on the Thruway with every new service area open from Albany to the Pennsylvania State line. The project is nearing completion with one location left to open, and it marks the Thruway Authority’s commitment to modernizing our transportation system and enhancing safety and reliability on the system.”
