Rwandan President Kagame emphasized the importance of cooperation among all parties, expressing his optimism about progress, stating that “with all parties working together, things can move forward faster.” Tina Salama, the spokesperson for President Tshisekedi, noted that these talks were facilitated by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, positioning Qatar as a vital strategic ally for both nations. The contingent of negotiations has emerged as a response to previous failures to initiate peace talks, notably following the M23’s withdrawal after the European Union imposed sanctions against their leadership.
