Rajendra Prabhulall, a former Mayor of Anna Regina and dedicated pastor, has passed away. He began his career as an information officer in Region Two before serving two consecutive terms in the mayoral position. Prabhulall’s educational journey started at St Laurence Anglican School in Hampton Court, followed by his entry into the teaching profession at 17 years old.
In 1976, he commenced his teaching career at Fisher Primary School in Golden Fleece. Following a transfer due to his father’s job, Prabhulall taught at Port Kaituma Primary School. He later returned to the Essequibo Coast, where he worked at Sparta Primary School and St Laurence Anglican Primary School, which is currently named Hampton Court Primary School.
Looking to improve his financial situation, Prabhulall transitioned from teaching to become the manager of the Lima Fish Port Complex in 1992, where he remained for five years. He then took on the role of Regional Information Officer with the Regional Democratic Council until his retirement in 2015. However, his retirement was short-lived as he successfully ran for Mayor of Anna Regina in 2018, and again for a second term.
In addition to his civic duties, Prabhulall also served as a pastor at the Voice of Faith Ministries, exemplifying his commitment to both his community and faith throughout his life.
