Trinidad and Tobago Clinches Gold in Men’s Team Sprint at Pan Am Championships

Trinidad and Tobago won gold in the men’s team sprint at the 2025 Elite Pan American Track Cycling Championships in Asunción, Paraguay. On April 2, at the National Olympic Velodrome in Asunción, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago commenced their 2025 Elite Pan American Track Cycling Championships with a victory in the men’s team sprint event. The talented trio consisting of Nicholas Paul, Njisane Phillip, and Ryan D’Abreau showcased their speed and skill, decisively defeating the top competitors in the region.

Trinidad and Tobago achieved a stunning victory over Colombia, who took home the silver medal, while Mexico secured the bronze by overcoming the host nation, Paraguay, in the third-place race. The TT team demonstrated consistent performance throughout the competition, ultimately qualifying in second place with a time of 44.087 seconds, narrowly behind Colombia’s 44.076 seconds. Canada finished third in qualifying with a time of 44.719 seconds.

In the first round, Trinidad and Tobago cruised past Brazil with an impressive time of 43.394 seconds, significantly ahead of Brazil’s time of 44.736 seconds. Subsequently, in the semi-finals against Paraguay, they secured their position in the gold medal race with a commanding performance.

During the final, despite Colombia’s strong showing in previous rounds, the Trinidad and Tobago trio was unmatched, securing the gold medal with their exceptional synergy. On April 3, Nicholas Paul will begin his defense in the men’s keirin, aiming for a third consecutive title, supported by two-time Olympian Njisane Phillip and emerging star Ryan D’Abreau.
