UAE Participates in Second BRICS Sherpa Meeting, Engages in Key Discussions

The United Arab Emirates participated in the second Sherpa meeting for BRICS, aimed at setting the stage for the upcoming Foreign Ministers’ meeting. This session, scheduled for April 28-29, 2025, focused primarily on drafting the Foreign Ministers’ Statement and identifying cooperation areas among the BRICS nations.

His Excellency emphasized the necessity of achieving real economic benefits for the BRICS countries. He acknowledged the members’ dedication to fostering economic collaboration and expressed appreciation for their commitment to these initiatives.

During the meeting’s sidelines, His Excellency engaged in multiple bilateral discussions. Notably, he met with the Sherpa from Brazil, the host of this meeting, as well as representatives from other countries involved in BRICS, exploring ways to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation further.

In related news, under the auspices of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan opened the 34th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which runs from April 26 to May 5, 2025. This year’s theme is “Knowledge Illuminates Our Community.”

Furthermore, the UAE welcomed the Declaration of Principles signed between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda in Washington, viewing it as a crucial step toward ensuring peace and stability in Africa.

The UAE also condemned a tragic car-ramming incident in Vancouver, Canada, that occurred during a festival for the Filipino community, resulting in casualties.

Finally, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed congratulated Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone, on the occasion of his country’s Independence Day, exemplifying the UAE’s commitment to international relations and collaboration.
