Villa Vie Odyssey has arrived in Brazil during its three-and-a-half-year world cruise. With nearly 250 residents, it will explore about 15 Brazilian destinations over the next month, including a notable stop in Rio de Janeiro during Carnival. Acquired by Villa Vie in late 2023, Odyssey has been refitted to enhance passenger experiences, allowing them to live onboard the ship.
The Villa Vie Residence’s Odyssey has successfully arrived in Brazil as part of its extensive world cruise, which will span three and a half years. After departing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, on February 18, 2025, the vessel docked in Santos for a three-day stay starting from February 24, 2025. With nearly 250 onboard residents, the Odyssey is planned to explore approximately 15 Brazilian destinations over the coming month.
Following its time in Santos, the Odyssey is set to continue its journey to Ilhabela, followed by stops at Paraty, Ilha Grande, Búzios, and Cabo Frio. One of the itinerary’s highlights includes a three-day stay in Rio de Janeiro during the Carnaval celebrations, in addition to visits to the Amazon region. Furthermore, the cruise will include additional ports such as Maceió, Fortaleza, and Belém in Brazil.
Excitement regarding the visit to Brazil is palpable; Rodrigo Lopes, the hotel manager of the Odyssey, expressed his enthusiasm during an interview with Cruise Industry News, stating, “We are very excited to visit Brazil, spending nearly one month in the country.” Following its departure from Europe in late September, the Odyssey is also scheduled to set sail to nearly 150 countries and over 425 destinations.
Reflecting on the beauty of exploration, Lopes remarked, “There’s something I always tell my passengers and crew when I’m onboard: the world is a beautiful place. Every place and every culture have its beauty. It’s a matter of knowing how to look and having an open mind to appreciate the beauty that people hold in their culture.”
Acquired by Villa Vie in late 2023, the Odyssey, formerly known as Braemar and operated by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, underwent extensive refurbishment in Northern Ireland. The recently revitalized 23,344-ton vessel entered service last September, featuring innovative concepts that allow guests to experience long-term living aboard the ship, which includes new public areas and an office space designed for passenger use.
The Villa Vie Odyssey’s arrival in Brazil marks a significant event in its extensive three-and-a-half-year world cruise. The itinerary includes numerous Brazilian destinations, particularly highlighting a stay during Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival. Enhancements implemented during the ship’s refurbishment emphasize a unique living concept that enhances the cruise experience for its residents.
