The Netherlands has officially announced its 15-member squad for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 matches in Namibia, scheduled between March 5 and March 13. The team will participate in two One Day Internationals (ODIs) against the hosts, Namibia, on March 7 and 13, while also facing Canada in two additional matches on March 5 and March 11.

All matches are set to be held at the Wanderers Sports Club in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. Notably, Fred Klaassen is gearing up for his first 50-over match in almost two years, while Zach Lion-Cachet is receiving his first ODI call-up. However, Brandon Glover, Shariz Ahmad, and Clayton Floyd have been omitted from the squad despite their recent involvement in a bowling camp in Cape Town.

Netherlands head coach Ryan Cook expressed optimism, stating, “We are looking forward to our first WCL2 fixtures of 2025 in Namibia. We have assembled a well-balanced squad that can adapt to various conditions and opponents we will face.” He added that the team has undergone significant training during winter in the Netherlands and a preparatory camp in Cape Town, preparing them for the challenges ahead.

Currently, the Netherlands stands in fifth position in the 2024-2026 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 points table, accumulating 14 points from 12 matches, characterized by seven victories and five losses. To qualify for the global tournament in 2027, they must secure numerous wins during their tour in Namibia.

Previously, the Netherlands competed in the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup in India, emerging as the second-best team from global qualifiers. They concluded their campaign in tenth place with a record of two wins, including a notable victory against South Africa, alongside seven defeats.

The Netherlands has announced a well-prepared squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 matches in Namibia, with notable players making their returns. With crucial matches ahead, their performance will be pivotal in securing their spot for the global qualifier. The team’s effort in preparation and strategic composition reflects their ambition to improve their standing in international cricket.
