These arrests, conducted outside mosques and marketplaces, come as part of the government’s initiative to address negative societal behaviors, following directives from Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah.
The Ministry’s statement indicated that many of those detained had entered Kuwait on visitor visas or as family residents, while others were in the country posing as loose labor without securing employment. Legal actions are underway against the companies that facilitated these illegal recruitments, underscoring the government’s commitment to uphold immigration regulations.
According to the Ministry, all violators will face deportation, contingent on their residency type. Individuals under Article 22 or those with family residency will be deported along with their sponsors, while those on Article 18 residency will have their sponsoring company’s file closed upon deportation. Domestic workers holding Article 20 residency will also face deportation, with sponsors barred from future visa guarantees.
The Ministry has also pledged to pursue legal action against individuals who exploit minors for begging, emphasizing child protection. Moreover, they intend to monitor electronic begging activities on social media in partnership with the Department of Combating Cybercrime to ensure offenders are legally prosecuted.
The Ministry urges the public to report any occurrences of begging by contacting designated hotline numbers, ensuring proactive community involvement in addressing this societal issue.
