During the morning’s FP1, Álex Rins faced challenges with grip, concluding the session in twelfth place. However, improved track conditions in the afternoon session allowed him to gain speed, ultimately setting a best time of 1’37.591s on lap 20, securing sixth position.
Fabio Quartararo also struggled in FP1, ending the session in thirteenth place. Yet, he demonstrated resilience, achieving a time of 1’37.818s on lap 20, which placed him eighth overall and fulfilled his objective of qualifying for Q2.
The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team are set to resume their efforts on Saturday with FP2 scheduled from 10:10-10:40 GMT -3, followed by qualifying sessions and the 12-lap Sprint at 15:00.
Team Director Massimo Meregalli remarked that the beginning of the Grand Prix was challenging due to low grip conditions, which were worsened by wet patches from prior rain.
