Nust launched the Bloomberg Finance Lab, a collaboration with MTC and the Namibia Investment and Finance Academy. The lab aims to empower Namibian youth and SMEs in financial literacy and investment capabilities, enhancing their global competitiveness.
The Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust), in collaboration with Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) and the Namibia Investment and Finance Academy, inaugurated the first Bloomberg Finance Lab at Nust on Tuesday. This initiative aims to advance the education and skills of financial professionals in Namibia.
Deputy Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service, Emma Kantema-Goamas, emphasized the lab’s significance for the nation’s youth, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and future leaders in investment. “This lab will serve as a cornerstone for empowering youth, SMEs, and the next generation of investment leaders, enhancing their ability to access funding, manage risk, and build sustainable enterprises that drive economic transformation,” stated Kantema-Goamas.
Erold Naomab, Vice Chancellor of Nust, expressed pride in this initiative, underscoring that the Bloomberg Finance Lab corresponds with the university’s mission to develop skilled graduates prepared for a modern economy. “The Bloomberg Finance Lab will bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application, ensuring our graduates are competitive on a global scale,” he remarked.
Thinus Smit, Chief Financial Officer of MTC, indicated that the lab functions as both an educational resource and a facilitator for the financial sector, promoting inclusion, fintech innovation, and investment competency across various industries. “This collaboration speaks to the importance of digital transformation in shaping Namibia’s financial sector,” Smit remarked.
The launch of the Bloomberg Finance Lab at Nust represents a significant advancement in Namibia’s financial education landscape. Through this initiative, stakeholders aim to equip the youth and future financial leaders with essential skills, thereby fostering a more inclusive and innovative financial environment in the country. The collaboration among Nust, MTC, and the Namibia Investment and Finance Academy is pivotal for driving economic transformation and global competitiveness.
