Communications intercepted by detectives revealed that he was in contact with relatives across the border, allegedly coordinating his escape.
Detectives had been monitoring Kuria’s communications closely, which led to the arrest in a lodging situation along with another suspect, who is also in police custody. Both individuals have since been transported to Nairobi and are set to face the JKIA Law Courts on Monday.
With the recent arrest, the number of people detained in relation to the assassination has now reached eleven. Those in custody include Were’s bodyguard Allan Omondi, his driver Walter Owino, and William Imoli, who is believed to have played a pivotal role in planning and funding the murder.
Furthermore, investigations have extended to several high-profile individuals, including businessman and politician Phillip Aroko, and Lake Basin Development Authority Director Ebel Ochieng. Both are suspected of financially supporting the plot to kill Were. Other individuals in custody include Edwin Oduor and Dennis Manyasi.
